The first time I caught sight of this adventure flight was in a Nepal Tourist Office booklet featuring a wide range of extreme sports activities. One page had a picture of two seater ultralight flying past the magnificent Machhapuchare. From that moment, I knew this was something I simply had to do. Four months later, and here I am realizing my trip - of -a - life time dream."

Trekking is the most common way to experience the mountains, but flying through the Range on one of the commercial flights taking trekkers into Jomsom Airport gives a completely different perspective. It is a 3-D world out there, with the rush of wind and a feeling of being literally at the doorstep of heaven.
As a professional photographer who has shot pictures from airplanes, a hot air balloon and helicopters, I must confess the microlight took my breath
away.

.Up, up we went, circling to gain altitude, but always edging towards the mountains ahead. Directly above was a blanket of clouds. We found a hole and broke into the sunlight.
In front of us the Himalayas glistened in the distance. Twenty minutes later we were almost alongside.
The cloudbanks had disappeared and, far below, were farmed fields and mountain ridges. A river sparkled in distance. There was no feeling of fear or insecurity. Just that of being at one with nature.
The flight created just one big problem. I want to do it again.

This is one of the most exciting days of my life. It is my first flight in this type of microlight flying machine, and to my surprise there has not been the slightest feeling of nervousness or fear from the moment we took off. But the adrenaline is there all right, and I am very much high.
